Flexible Slope Protection Net for Rockfall Prevention

Slope protection net (also known as SNS, flexible or wire rope net), mainly used for landslide protection on highways, railways, etc., is divided into three types: active protection net, passive protection net, and ring net.

Active protection system of slope protection net:

Covers slopes with wire rope mesh, fixed by anchors and support ropes, restricting rock weathering and spalling, and controlling the range of falling rocks. It features high flexibility, high protection strength, easy deployment, short installation period, low cost, long service life, and is environmentally friendly while promoting vegetation growth.

Passive protection system of slope protection net:

Composed of steel posts, wire rope mesh / ring net, fixing system and减压环 (energy dissipating rings / brake rings), used to intercept falling rocks and form area protection. The system has high flexibility, can effectively absorb impact kinetic energy, replacing traditional rigid retaining walls, shortening construction periods and reducing costs.

Ring net of slope protection net:

Made of multiple strands of steel wire twisted and interlocked, with an interception energy generally ranging from 150kJ to 2000kJ.

Technological development of slope protection net:

Slope treatment is trending towards deep reinforcement and comprehensive treatment, commonly using anchoring, drainage, concrete shear resistance, and other measures.

Reasons for installing slope protection net:

Include natural sliding mass, excessively steep slopes, water erosion, earthquake damage, unstable rock formations, and debris flows.
